As your child begins to walk, it becomes inevitable that they soon will be wanting to walk and/or climb all over things. Encourage their explorations inside or outside by setting up a toddler climber for them to scale up and down. Toddler climbers come in many variations and may or may not include a slide attachment. The more elaborate toddler climbers feature a scaled down version of a rock climbing wall including foot and hand grips and netting on the inside for added safety. Great for the backyard or a large play-room.

Outdoor play mats

When looking for outdoor play mats for children, you need to consider what types of activities your kids will be using the mat for. If it’s just for dancing on or doing the odd cartwheel, then pretty much any play mat will work fine. But if they are using it for practicing gymnastics, tumbling, martial arts or other repetitive activity, you’ll need to look at getting a large, thick mat that is durable, yet lightweight so your children will have no problem bringing it in and out of the house.

Tents for kids

Two things that really go great together are the outdoors and kids. If you have a decent size backyard, your children could probably spend days outside playing and imagining all kinds of cool adventures. One way to add a boost to their imaginations is to set up a kids tent in the back yard on those really hot and sunny days. It probably wouldn’t take long before they figure out some cool way to use the tent as a fort or other make believe dwelling. Plus, on those rainy days, the tent can be used in the family or play room with the same results.

Tables for kids

For some reason, my little guy loves the tables and chairs they have at the daycare he attends during the week. I can only surmise that it’s the colored chairs that he likes and the fact that he can sit at the table comfortably unlike when he needs to sit at a regular size table at home. So when I saw a similar set of wooden tables for kids that included matching colored chairs online, I immediately whipped out the old credit card and ordered. Suffice it to say, my son was thrilled beyond belief and has started to invite all his little friends over for play dates that focus around the table and chairs. Fun stuff for all.

Outdoor playsets

Not all of us are lucky enough to live near a park, but getting an outdoor playset is like bringing the park to your backyard. If you have trouble getting your kids to play outside, this may be the solution. Kids just love to climb, slide and go through tunnels, and today’s playsets are designed with this in mind.
