The type of bed frame you need depends mostly on the level of comfort you expect. Metal frame type bed frames require a box spring to be used. Platform bed frames are meant to be used if only a mattress is required. You may find that this results in a less bouncy sleeping surface. Of course, this does not take into account the type of matress used and its firmness.
