If you’re considering buying a large dutch oven but not sure exactly what constitutes large, here’s a little guide to help you along. A small dutch oven would hold two to four quarts while a medium dutch oven should hold about four and a half to six and a half quarts. A large dutch oven should have no problem containing seven to nine quarts of whatever. Now, there are some dutch ovens that go up to thirteen quarts, but they would be considered much larger than a large, so consider your needs both immediate and long term before deciding which size would be best for you.
