A good pair of coveralls should be made of fairly thick fabric. This is workwear, so you want something that will be rugged and will not tear. If the work you do will require you to get dirty, then a dark color is probably preferable. However, if you are doing night work outdoors, you may want to get a pair that is bright-colored, or that has uses some light-reflecting fabric. Make sure the sleeves fit well, as you do not want them to get in the way of your hands.
